Abu Dhabi will host in 2020 the World Urban Forum in 2020.

The World Urban Forum 10 (WUF 10) will take place in the city of Abu Dhabi in the year 2020. The last 17th October, UN Habitat signed an agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC) and the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities of the city of Abu Dhabi for the latter to organise the 10th edition of the WUF in 2020. For the first time in history, an Arab country will host the Forum.

The Forum will be organized by UN Habitat as well as by different Departments of the city of Abu Dhabi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the General Secretary of the executive council and the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

WUF 10 would be a platform to deal with issues such as the planning of cities and the 21st century, taking into account the context of rapid urban development with a special emphasis in culture and demography.

The WUF which was established in 2001, being the first forum at the world level that treated issues related with urbanisation, analyses the impact of the rapid urbanisation and its effects in the economic, environmental and social policies in communities and cities.
