EU Partnership Forum 2018

The European Commission held on June 25 and 26 in Brussels, the EU Partnership Forum 2018. The meeting allowed for closer cooperation between local authorities and organizations such as UCLG with the European Commission, as well as strengthening collaboration for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the European Consensus on Development.

The Forum also contribute to take stock of the achievements of the Framework Partnership Agreements (FPAs), developed by the European Commission together with civil society organizations and associations of local authorities in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Latin America and Europe. This EU partnership extends to a wide range of areas such as human rights, good local inclusive governance or decentralised cooperation, among others, contributing to improve the capacities and the relations between the different actors.

In addition, the event featured a session focus on decentralised cooperation and the key role played by cities and regions in the context of the 2030 Agenda. In this session they presented the results obtained in the publication prepared by the OECD with the support of European Commission, "Reshaping decentralised development cooperation. The key role of cities and regions for the 2030 Agenda". This project aims to review decades of decentralised cooperation and draw lessons from which to suggest new ways of guiding the action of donors, governments and other interested parties.
