3rd edition of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) - Mexico City- 21 Culture International Award

On the 18th October 2018, in the city of Mexico, the 3rd edition of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG)- Mexico City- 21 Culture’ International Award took place. In the category “Local or Regional City/Government” the price was granted to the cities of Lyon (France) for its cultural policy “The sustainable city: the Lyon’s Letter of Cultural Cooperation” and Seongbuk (Seoul, Republic of Korea) for the program “Local cultural governance: the Artists roundtable”. In the category “Personality” the awards were given to Basma El Husseiny, director of the organization Action for Hope which mission is to provide cultural support and programmes of cultural development to those communities that are in crisis, and to Patrice Meyer-Bisch, President of the Observatory of Diversity and Cultural Rights, from the UNESCO cathedra-Human Rights and Democracy at the Fribourg University and main promoter of the Fribourg Declaration on Cultural Rights.

The award, organized by UCLG and the city of Mexico, is granted to those cities and leaders that stand out for their work to sustainable development and culture. At the same time, UCLG has a cultural Committee that has become the main platform on sustainable development and culture at the international level and the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) - Mexico City- 21 Culture’ International Award is an example of it.
