Start of the online training offer of The Observatory for Decentralised Cooperation EU-LA.
The Observatory for Decentralised Cooperation EU-LA, led by the Barcelona Provincial Council, has started its online training offer for 2020, which consists in the fifteenth edition of the course "Specialist in Decentralized Cooperation" and the second edition of the course "Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Tools for Local Transformation”.
The "Specialist in Decentralized Cooperation" course, that has the support of Platforma, began on September 21 and plans to end in mid-December with two modalities, one in Spanish and the other in French, each with 35 students. This year, in the Spanish modality almost 60% of participants, practitioners in the field of decentralized cooperation and international action of local governments of Latin America and Europe, are women and 40% are men. The French modality has an inverse proportion, with more men than women, with 35 practitioners of the Mediterranean and African regions.
The second edition of the course on “Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Tools for Local Transformation”, organized jointly with the world organization of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), is taught in three languages: Spanish, English and French, with 35 students in each modality. This course is nearly equally balanced between women and men and all the three modalities have a great geographical variety, bringing together professionals from Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean region. This course is planned based on the roadmap designed by the UCLG Global Taskforce, UNDP-Art and UN-Habitat, to support local and regional governments in the formulation of national policies in order to create an environment that facilitates action at the local and regional level. The course began on September 17 and will be finished at the end of December.
