Urban 20 Mayoral Summit (U20)

The Urban 20 (U20) Mayoral Summit will take place in the city of Buenos Aires on the 29th and 30th October, a month before the G20 Summit takes place in the same city. The U20, that promotes the dialogue and cooperation between G20 nations and 25 global cities, will allow a major contribution of the latter in the process of the G20. The U20 has as its main objective contributing to the process of the G20 from an urban perspective, and hence, being able to find together policies that allow addressing global challenges not only from a national perspective, but also from a local one.

Urban 20 is an initiative founded on the 12 December 2017, during the One Planet Summit in Paris. The latter was convened by the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group in collaboration with United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and is chaired by both the mayors of Buenos Aires and Paris, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and Anne Hidalgo respectively. This initiative is supported by diverse actors in the field of development, such as the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the Inter-American Development Bank and the Latin American Development Bank.
